Local Cincinnati and Dayton wrestling patriarch Cody Hawk posted the following statement on his Facebook page today:
Dear Fans,
It is with deep sadness that I am writing this letter to you. As of this time, I am no longer with Rockstar Pro Wrestling or Arena. This decision was not of my own making. I was sent a text Monday morning to remove my things from the building as the locks were being changed Tuesday. I immediately made plans to make that happen. I was busy all day moving my items and only my items. I did not take anything that I didn’t bring in, pay for, or have donated to me personally. I am in the process of gathering the documentation for all of these items so there is no dispute.
I am sure some of you want to know the details, but this is the only thing I am going to publicly say about this subject. Before I get to “what happened,” I want to start by apologizing to each and every one of you. This isn’t how I wanted the entire situation to play out. I wanted to build an amazing place for all my staff and friends. I wanted to build the very best wrestling brand around, and I think we did. I am sorry that my departure is so abrupt. Again, I had no choice in the decision.
I went into an arrangement with Chad Parker (CW Scott), Ben Parker (Ben Michaels), and Gee Gee Bradley on the premise that I would come in and be the head trainer and writer, and we were all going to be equal owners. I was approached with that offer, and based on this information; I agreed to go into business with them. Chad registered the business with the state of Ohio, which does not require all partners to be listed, and he opted not to list us. We had a meeting, and we all were told the agreement/contract would be written up. There have been several big blow ups that have happened at Rockstar with “management.” Those were generally a result of me asking for the ownership paperwork I was promised. We would meet and I would be told that it was being worked on again, and I would continue on for my boys. I didn’t want to leave all of them. I felt they were there because I promised something amazing. I didn’t want to fail so I waited and I kept trying.
But it now appears I waited too long because Chad has asked me to leave. If there was the contract I was promised and repeatedly ask for over the past 2.5 years in place, this would not have happened because I would be an owner. This isn’t about money. This is about principle. If you want me to give everything I have left to wrestling, after I have already lost most of it to wrestling, I need to be an owner (again why I said I had to be an owner before I committed to Chad, Ben, and Gee Gee to be the head trainer). I wouldn’t go into business as anything less. This is what I do. It is my passion, and I have earned the right to earn something back from it after 18 years.
I want to thank each and every one of you for coming out and supporting me and the smash mouth, in your face, brand of wrestling I bring to the table. Thank you for spending your money and being a fan of this great business that I cherish so much. Thank you for supporting the product. Without you, there is no business and earning your loyalty, respect, and passion has been an honor and privilege for me. I wish you all the best of luck in the future. May wrestling continue to tug at your heart strings, leave you wowed in amazement, make you cringe and just all around take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Hopefully, our paths will cross again sometime soon. Until then, THROW IT UP! THROW IT DOWN BABY!
Sincerely,
Cody Hawk
P.S. I am still a proud owner (with a contract) of My Custom Vapes, LLC so please feel free to hit me up for all your vaping needs.
