For a moment everyone in attendance at Tuff Pro Wrestling's 'Survive The Clash' thought contender Dylan Murphy was the new TPW Champion. And with good reason. The referee counted to three as Murphy covered the reigning Champion Cedric Blackhawk, called for the bell, and raised Murphy's hand. But the fans screamed in disapproval with an outrage that could have possibly led to a riot of the caliber of Ferguson, Mo. Many shouted that Blackhawk kicked out at two. Without giving a reason the referee then restarted the match which led to Blackhawk gaining an advantage which ultimately led to him getting the win to retain his title.
"SCREWED i GOT SCREWED DYLAN GOT SCREWED," said Murphy's sidekick Cashlyn in a post on Facebook shortly after the match.
Much like the NFL, the pro wrestling referee has the final call in deciding outcomes in matches. However very seldom do they call for a reversal without giving a reason. Could it have been due to political pressure from the fans? Only the referee can answer that question. Who couldn't be reached for comment at press time.
While most TPW fans applauded the reversal, some are calling for a rematch including the Murphys themselves. And this is an idea Blackhawk isn't opposed to. When asked if he would be open to a rematch with a special referee stipulation Blackhawk responded with, "No I motion for a last man standing so there will be no controversy."
It remains to be seen how the brass at Tuff will handle the situation but they certainly have much controversy on their plate.
The Murphys will be calling in to talk about the situation when 'Talkin Smack Radio' returns on its season premier Tuesday, November 25, 2014.
